Year of Gnomes

We will be participating along with Imagined Landscapes in her Year of Gnomes KAL. Sarah has designed 12 gnome patterns and has come up with a fun way to knit them all through the year. You can find more info on her website linked here.

The shop will also have drawings for prizes in 2022. Whether you do one gnome or twelve, you will have an opportunity to enter a drawing. Join us on January 2nd if you need more info, want help choosing a pattern or picking colors.

Our first KAL of 2021

The year began with a shop KAL by Jennifer Steingass. Many of you may be more familiar with her as knit.love.wool on Instagram and Ravelry.

Jennifer has over three dozen sweater patterns in a range of yarn weights. And she is currently offering a KAL discount on her patterns through the end of April. So, if you haven’t knit one of her lovely sweaters or you want to add to your bucket list of knits, now is the time to browse and get a few patterns at a great price.

The Goldwing seems to be a favorite with many at the shop. This pattern features two colors (or three) as you’ll see below and knit from the top down.

I picked a bottom up pattern, Seachange. I have spent many days deciding how long I wanted my sleeves. In the end I decided on bracelet length with no color work on the sleeves.

This year we are doing our KAL’s differently. There will be no end dates. Something you want to participate in? Start anytime and finish when you finish. There is always help available to you at the shop regardless of what you are knitting or what you are knitting it with. Our goal is community, sharing what we love, and encouraging each other along the way.

And remember…it’s only yarn and it’s always just one stitch at a time. Don’t be afraid to try something new!

Join us for There’s No Place Like Home, a gorgeous throw by designer Emma Wright. This KAL will be 8 weeks long beginning October 28th, with the last clue releasing on December 16th.

I have all three colorway kits in the shop for you to have a look and decide which one you want to make. The kits can drop ship directly to your house AND there are free YouTube tutorials if you would like to complete this project at home!

Yarn is Sirdar’s Country Classic DK. A soft and squishy wool and acrylic blend. Perfect for home projects. Great to throw in the wash and soft on the skin.

Below is a sample of some of the stitches you’ll be doing. What a great opportunity to try some new stitches and techniques. Call or email the shop for more information.

Goldfish Memory Shawl

fullsizeoutput_965

May 1st will begin our Goldfish Memory Shawl by Casapinka. I’ve had my eye on this pattern for months. The shawl is a great project to use a few of those gorgeous yarns you have stashed away. It takes only three skeins of 400yds each, size 5 & 6 needles and some stitch markers. Casapinka suggests using a light, a bright or bold yarn and something in between to see the slipped stitches more easily.

We will schedule this KAL until the end of July with Video Meets up’s weekly. You may join us for one or all. If you need help, please join us. If you want to have someone to knit and chat with, please join us.

Do you need help with your yarn choices? We have several fingering weight yarns at the shop and we can help you figure out what you will need. A great resource (I sometimes forget about) for finding what you like is the projects link on the pattern page in Ravelry. And there is always video chat too ~ so bring those stashed yarns to one of the video meets, including Yarn Social and let us all help you!

Seven Sisters Top

Cottonwood

We started a KAL with Blue Sky Fibers this month. It’s called the Seven Sisters Top, and it is knit using the the Blue Sky Printed Organic Cotton (worsted). This is an easy fit top. The yarn is soft and squishy and the cotton fiber keeps it light for a summer day and thin enough to wear under a jacket on a cooler evening. Knit from the bottom up and in the round on size 10 circular needles make for a quick project. And the short sleeves keep you from getting stranded on sleeve island.

The KAL runs from April 1st ~ June 30th. Plenty of time to join us. We have been getting together on the Jitsi Meet site. I will post on Instagram and on the Classes/Events tab our meeting times.

There are 8 painted colors and 39 solids in the Organic Cotton (worsted). You will be sure to find a color to make one or three of these easy to wear summer tops. Pattern is include with the purchase of the yarn. 5 skeins will give you an XL. I’m always available to meet you at the shop for a pick up, help by phone, or email. We hope to see you online!
